Breaking Limits
Movement That Inspires Growth

Read time: Under 4 minutes
Hello crew,
This week has been a blend of high-level business strategy and real-world movement. I started with a series of bank and private equity meetings, along with discussions with corporate finance teams as we refined our objectives for this year and beyond. One of the highlights was a one-on-one back at the London Stock Exchange, where we discussed my vision for “O” and the energy it could bring, a conversation that confirmed our potential to spark change on a national scale.
Yet, amidst the strategy and numbers, I found time for something equally important: movement. Between meetings, I made it a point to get out and run or walk, whether zipping around Milton Keynes or navigating the streets of London. These moments are not just breaks; they’re essential for clearing my head and igniting new ideas. A quick stop at St Paul’s Cathedral reminded me that even the most familiar sights can reveal hidden beauty when seen with fresh eyes.
And then there was my conversation with Rachel Murphy, the impressive “grafter” whose track record speaks for itself. Talking with her felt like aligning with someone who truly understands the drive to break boundaries.
There’s a rare quality in those you meet that just clicks; and people like Rachel are worth keeping close as you push the limits.
Anywho… lets get into it…
MIND
Shattering Mental Barriers

Everything is as much a mental game as it is a physical one.
This week, while navigating high-stakes meetings and formulating strategies, I was reminded that true growth starts in the mind. Bare with me here;…. I consider myself an Olympian in training (calm down) when it comes to the world of business, a relentless pursuit of excellence and disruption. Whether it’s balancing the roles of a single parent, a business owner, or an investor, the key is to challenge the status quo and focus on what really matters.
I recently watched an interview featuring Elon Musk (through the eyes of a close friend), where he explained how he manages multiple billion-pound ventures. His secret?
Focus intensely on one critical issue at a time. It’s a powerful reminder that often, we create our own constraints. Breaking down a massive challenge into manageable blocks allows us to overcome what we once thought were insurmountable barriers.
A personal anecdote comes to mind from an experience in my early days at the University of Northampton, when I was invited as a guest speaker for the entrepreneurship event they had on. After the guest talk, a young entrepreneur approached me with a “top secret” idea. Fast forward a few years and, meeting him again at a tech conference in Milton Keynes, his project was still in limbo, an encounter that underscored how timing and disciplined focus are essential in turning ideas into reality…
BODY
Running Through Life’s Labyrinth
I’ve never been one to sit still.
Movement is both my escape and my catalyst for innovation. On days packed with meetings and strategic planning, I rely on running and walking to clear my mind and refocus my energy.
During one such walk, while heading back to LSE, I paused at St Paul’s Cathedral. Despite having passed it countless times, its intricate details and that evocative shepherd statue made me stop and reflect, reminding me that inspiration is often hidden in the details of our everyday environment.
It’s this blend of physical exertion and mental clarity that drives me. I train like an athlete, not for medals, but to conquer the challenges that each day presents.
Move, move, move!
EXPLORATION
Discovering New Paths

Movement isn’t just about exercise, it’s a journey of exploration.
This week, I made a detour to Bournemouth. Arriving on Friday evening, I took the opportunity to explore the Jurassic Coast, ancient ruins, and castles.
Here’s a fascinating nugget for you: Bournemouth’s cliffs and rock formations are the remnants of sedimentary layers laid down nearly 200 million years ago… a living testament to Earth’s history and evolution.
Such sights remind us that change and growth are constants, whether in nature or in our own lives.
Every new environment offers a fresh perspective, reinforcing the idea that stepping away from routine can spark unexpected insights.
CHALLENGE
Your Challenge to Break Barriers
Here’s my challenge for you, Captain and crew: break out of your comfort zone this week. Whether it’s taking a brisk walk on a new route, running a bit faster, or simply standing up and stretching during a busy day, make movement a part of your strategy for growth.
Think of it like training for a gold medal, just as F1 drivers and Olympians push their limits daily, we too must focus on the essentials and tackle challenges one block at a time. Just remember, be better than yesterday. That is enough, for today.
Remember the lesson from Elon: by concentrating on the critical issues and dismantling our own self-imposed barriers, we can shape reality to our advantage. Whether it’s that idea you’ve been toying with or a project that needs momentum, action is the key to breaking limits.

See ya around!
Final thoughts…
Reflecting on the week, it’s clear that every step, (literal or figurative) has been a building block toward progress. The synergy between high-stakes meetings and the spontaneous clarity gained from a run or walk underscores one essential truth: movement fuels both mind and body. I’m not here merely to pass through life; I’m here to shape it.
Every conversation, every sprint, and every moment of quiet reflection contributes to our ongoing journey of breaking limits.
As we forge ahead, remember that growth isn’t a destination, it’s a continuous process of challenging the status quo, learning from every experience, and evolving with purpose.
(TL;DR)
This week was a potent mix of strategic meetings and deliberate movement. From pivotal sessions at the London Stock Exchange and memorable encounters with inspiring figures like Rachel Murphy, to the refreshing clarity of runs past St Paul’s Cathedral and explorations along Bournemouth’s ancient coast, the message is clear: breaking limits, whether mentally or physically, is the cornerstone of growth.
Focus, move, and let your drive shape the future.
Peace.
Yours in exploration,

Captain Sprigg
