Curiosity = Superpower

Expanding Mental Horizons

Read time: Under 4 minutes

Goooooood morning!

This week has been a whirlwind of fascinating encounters that remind me just how powerful curiosity can be.

Amid the usual flurry of meetings, I found myself asking unconventional questions, like how to sift through 8 billion people to unearth that rare, exceptional talent…

I even joined a professional “dating app” (don’t get any ideas!) designed not for romance, but to match founders with co-founders. (Thanks Olly!!) My thought? Why not meet a new founder every week, pitch my ideas, and then help them find the perfect co-founder while positioning myself right at the heart of it all? Yes, I’m cooking up a master plan to build one of the most disruptive funds in the world, and it’s my endless curiosity that’s paving the way.

I also had a mind-blowing conversation with an AI engineer fresh off McKinsey, who’s now advising none other than Tony Blair and key government figures. Meanwhile, corporate finance teams from one of the largest UK banks were all ears, curious about our plans, and even my own team couldn’t wait to dive into what’s next in emerging tech and innovation.

And the cherry on top? My DMs literally exploded with interest from the healthcare human capital market, my stomping ground. One LSE member and even a Conservative Party Lord reached out for a chat!

I might not always know what door I’m opening, but like a determined woodpecker, I drill until I uncover something new and exciting.

Anyway, lets touch on the other bits…

MIND
Mind Unleashed: Rethinking the Ordinary

Our minds thrive on exploration and challenge.

Curiosity isn’t just about asking questions, it’s about reshaping how we see the world. It pushes us to break free from routine thought, sparking innovative ideas and fresh perspectives.

Every conversation and unexpected meeting feeds our mental landscape, proving that the journey of learning is never-ending… ever…

BODY
Body Check: Whoop Stats & Netflix Realities

This week, my Whoop stats have been a real eye-opener. I’ve been tracking my sleep, recovery, and strain closely, and while my sleep is steadily improving with a few tweaks here and there, my strain levels remind me not to overdo it.

On top of that, I dove into Brian Johnson’s Don't Die on Netflix - mixed feelings there, but the experiment resonated with my own journey. His take on longevity and physical optimisation might not be perfect, but it underscored how curiosity isn’t just for the mind; it’s for the body too.

Tinkering with my routine, questioning established norms, and exploring new ways to boost recovery all feed into that same drive for innovation.

It’s a potent reminder that our physical well-being is just as crucial as our mental growth, and sometimes, the small adjustments can lead to big improvements.

Recommendation; Just watch it! See what you think for yourself, don’t forget, its far out hence why I enjoyed it 😉

EXPLORATION
Venturing Out: Embracing the Unknown

Curiosity leads us to uncharted territory. It’s the spark that propels us to explore fields and forge connections we might otherwise overlook.

Meeting an AI engineer who’s taken a bold leap from the corporate world into advising top government figures was a prime example. His journey, coupled with my own ventures, from teaming up with corporate finance experts to expanding my roots in the healthcare market, illustrates that innovation often blooms at the intersection of diverse experiences and exploration!

Every unexpected chat, every innovative meeting, builds on the notion that exploration is vital. It’s about diving headfirst into the unknown, testing ideas, and welcoming the unexpected. By continually asking “what if?” we not only expand our own horizons but also inspire those around us to look beyond the conventional.

CHALLENGE
Dare to Leap: Your Curiosity Challenge

So here’s my challenge to you: don’t settle for the familiar. Embrace the unknown with open arms. Let curiosity be your guide, ask the tough questions, seek out the unconventional, and be bold in your pursuits.

Whether it’s rethinking how talent is sourced, finding something out about your family member or partner, or even venturing into entirely new business models or jobs, every step taken outside your comfort zone can lead to remarkable breakthroughs.

Remember, it’s in these moments of uncertainty that we find the seeds of true innovation.

Final thoughts…

Curiosity is more than a trait- it’s a superpower.
It fuels our drive to innovate, connect, and grow.

As I reflect on a week filled with unexpected meetings and inspiring conversations, I’m reminded that every new experience is a chance to learn, adapt, and push the boundaries of what’s possible. So keep that spark alive, keep questioning, and never stop exploring.

Life, after all, is a series of open doors waiting to be discovered.

TL;DR:

This week proved that curiosity is a game-changer. From unconventional talent hunts and innovative co-founder matching to unexpected chats with an ex-McKinsey AI engineer and high-profile finance teams, every encounter reinforced that an inquisitive mind leads to breakthrough ideas.

Embrace curiosity, it’s the superpower that expands your mental horizons and drives innovation.

Yours in exploration,
