Fuelling the Fire… Staying Locked In

Momentum is a wild thing. The second you think you’ve got it, life starts throwing distractions, shiny objects, and unexpected opportunities at you like a bloody carnival game.

This week was one of those weeks.

I had meetings with Canada, sat down with people across the UK, and caught up with Elspeth…. one of the coolest photographers out there. She literally shot Snoop Dogg the other month (subtle flex - sorry!). Now, she wants to shoot me and overhaul my public profiles, which is pretty damn cool.

By the weekend, though? My head was spinning.

Not because of the meetings, but because of the mental battle that comes with staying on course.

I have a path, a vision, and a mission, but let me tell you, I get sidetracked easily. People tell me all the time, “you probably have ADHD.” And look, maybe they’re right. I’m a founder, I’m obsessive with my work, and I have energy 24/7 (seriously, where does this stuff come from?!).

The reality is, momentum matters. If you don’t protect it, distractions will rob you blind.

This week, I had to take a step back and check myself, am I building what I set out to, or am I just chasing everything that lands in my lap?

MIND
Energy Without Direction = Chaos

The hardest part of building anything isn’t starting…. it’s staying locked in.

This week, I forced myself to re-centre and ask three brutal questions:

  1. What is my core mission?

  2. Does this new opportunity serve it or distract from it?

  3. Would I still pursue this if it wasn’t exciting right now?

It’s easy to get caught up in potential. The idea that something could be great is not the same as it actually being great.

This hit me hard recently when I was called in to consider standing in politics.

The thought? Encouraging. Exciting. The idea of stepping into real influence, policy, and change? Thrilling.

I even found myself entertaining the Conservative Party - why? Because it was genuinely exciting.

But then, I had to stop myself.

  • Do I want to join the party?

  • Do I even want to go into politics?

  • Do I even want to stay in this country longer than I need to?

I don’t know. But I do know this: right now, it’s a distraction.

Like Matthew McConaughey would say…. this ain’t a green light. It’s a red light.

And momentum? It doesn’t come from chasing every red light just because it looks like an opportunity.

So this week, I’m doubling down.

BODY
Harnessing My Energy (Instead of Letting It Run Me)

I might have infinite mental energy, but my physical energy? That’s something I’m learning to manage better.

What’s working this week?

Mornings dialled in - stretches, push-ups, hydration. No excuses.
More walks, less caffeine - I’m still battling the tea addiction (pray for me).
Listening to my body - stress shows up physically before you even notice it mentally.

It’s not about just burning energy, it’s about channeling it.

EXPLORATION
The Balance of Self & Others

Steve Backshall Expedition GIF by PBS

This weekend, the boys and I were fixing up our bikes, getting them ready to ship to Spain before we fly out in May. We’re riding across the Pyrenees and down through the country, testing ourselves before the real challenge…

Our global expedition in 2030. A full year. Epic doesn’t even cover it.

Right now, we’re working on finding our war room, the place where we’ll prep everything, secure sponsors, and start filming the pilot. And our May trip? That’s the first real test.

But beyond the adventure planning, we had a real conversation about priorities.

Here’s what hit home:

  • Sometimes, we have to be selfish to rise.

  • We can’t lift others if we’re crumbling under their weight.

  • Prioritising ourselves first doesn’t mean we don’t care, it means we’re making sure we can actually help in the long run.

So many people think leadership means sacrificing yourself for others. But the truth? You can’t pour from an empty cup.

Side Quest: Becoming European Again?

This week, I’m applying for my Dutch passport. My Opa was Rotterdam born and bred, my mum is half Dutch, half Aussie, and I’m somehow still trying to work out where the hell I belong.

If that doesn’t work? Spanish citizenship next. I was born and raised there, surely that counts for something?

If all else fails, well… MI6, call me. 😂

CHALLENGE
Mastering My Focus

After tackling sugar (nailed it) and currently battling tea addiction, I’m taking on a new challenge:

🔴 Saying no to distractions.

For the next month, every decision will go through one simple filter:

  1. Does this serve the long-term vision?

  2. Would I still do this if it wasn’t exciting right now?

  3. Is this a strategic move or just a cool opportunity?

If it doesn’t check the boxes? It’s a no.

Momentum only matters if it’s going somewhere.

Final Thoughts | Protect Your Momentum

This week was a wake-up call. Staying on course is harder than starting. Opportunities will always be there. New ideas will always be tempting.

But if we don’t protect our momentum, we lose sight of where we’re going.

So, the focus is simple: Keep moving. Stay locked in. Build what matters.

TL;DR | This Week in a Nutshell

  • Momentum matters, distractions are everywhere. Stay locked in.

  • Met with Elspeth (shot Snoop Dogg! 😱) excited for the new shoot.

  • Mind: Focus is about discipline, not just ideas.

  • Body: Smarter movement, more hydration, less tea (trying).

  • Exploration: Prepping for our 2030 global expedition.

  • Challenge: Cutting out distractions, only saying yes to things that truly align.

  • Side Quest: Applying for Dutch citizenship - because why not?

Let’s keep moving.

Yours in exploration,
